Afroplan Foundation

Frank Tarimo founded Project Afroplan in 2012 to help women and children ages 3-6. Afroplan is a
day care center where children from the poorest families from Usa River can come to learn basic
math, science, grammar, Swahili and English. In addition, it is a place where these children can
stay safe and supervised while their family or guardians earn an income.

 

Afroplan supports Usa River women
Supporting women economically is another goal of Mr. Frank Tarimo. Women are generally paid
much less than men. This project offers women some jobs to earn a higher income, which in turn
helps their families escape poverty. Although there are currently only 3-5 women working at
Afroplan, we all hope to grow this great project to empower a generation of women in Usa River.

 

Sponsorship Program
Afroplan's sponsorship program strives to find individuals to fund tuition for a private school
where they will receive a proper education. The more students sponsored, the more students are
able to attend Afroplan. In this way, we create a beneficial middle ground in the transition out of
poverty in Usa River.

 

Mission
To lift children out of poverty, hunger, lack of education and poor health care for their future.
Vision
To uncover and support behavioral patterns of poor children to ensure sustainable development.

 

Timeline in the project:

 

• Working hours: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

• Breakfast break 10.00 am to 10.30 am

• Lunch break 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Volunteers are also welcome)

Note:

 

• if you have anything to donate, pencils, chalk, exercise books, erasers, pencil sharpeners are
  welcome.

 

• Volunteers will have the opportunity to make home visits to get an idea of what the living
  conditions of the children and families there are like.
